AHA HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL COURSES

BLS - Basic Life Support

The new BLS Provider Course replaces the BLS Healthcare Providers and BLS for Prehospital Providers Courses.

The BLS Provider Course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in- and out-of-hospital settings. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation, and provide early use of an AED. It includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.

First Aid

First Aid is a course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies.

This course can be combined with adult CPR and AED training.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS)

Expands on the core ACLS guidelines through cooperative learning to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory, and other (e.g., metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of pre-arrest, arrest, and post-arrest patients.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

The course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.

Bloodborne Pathogens

The course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.
